very nice cordless grinder

i own quite few 18v lithium ion makita tools and this grinder is one that i really appreciate. after reading other reviews, i wonder who would buy this with expectations of it performing on the same level as a corded model? i do a lot of interior steel stud framing and i use this grinder to cut the heads off of concrete anchors and to notch light gauge steel. this cordless grinder is GREAT for that and has a lot more torque than i expected. keep in mind that i understand tools and i know that having cordless convenience means some trade offs. it will stall out if i get stupid with it…but i use it for convenience and i know to take lighter cuts with it and to go slower than i would with a big corded unit. this thing is impressive and it will do a lot. i used it to sharpen lawn mower blades and it was great for that. i can also use it to cut thru chain links and small bolts and items that are away from electricity and would be difficult to run an extension cord to. it’s a grat tool that can do a lot if you take your time and go slow on bigger tasks.

Very well built tool

This is a very handy tool. Works great. I use it very often and can’t really complain about it. It kind of goes through the batteries a little quicker than most of the LTX tools. Or maybe what I should say is that it requires a more charged battery. In other words once the battery is down so far it doesn’t run this tool very well. But please understand that I usually am grinding off 3/4 inch stainless steel bolts or something of that nature. It’s still awesome and great for just about any job.

Will only fit a BL1830 (3.0Ah) battery!

I already have a BL1815 (1.5 Ah) battery and the quick charger prior to buying the BGA452Z. So I thought I could just just buy the bare tool and use it straight away with my existing battery.

Only realised later that the BL1815 (1.5 Ah). will not fit into the BGA452Z tool and that it will only take the larger capacity BL1830 (3.0Ah). I’m sure its a good tool but I will now have to spend additional money to buy the BL1830. Wish the information was clearly stated in the product discription.

Leatherman quality dropping? By C. Thompson Leatherman’s quality seems to be declining. The tool set is made in Taiwan, not the US. Mine arrived without the magnetic retainer ring that is supposed to hold the bits in place. Also, one of the bits was not machined. It was a billet of metal! I contacted Leatherman and they will send me a new driver, and hopefully a new bit too. The kicker is that they want *me* to mail *their* defective unit back at *my* expense. Now, I own an original Leatherman tool, a SuperTool, a Micra, Two Squirts (“E” and “P”), and a Kick. I love them all. My last two purchases of Leatherman products have been this kit and an h500 Leatherman 830330 h500 Folding Straight-Edge Knife with Nylon Sheathknife. I’ve now had issues with both. I hope this isn’t the trend of quality for this company. 6 of 6 people found the following review helpful. confusingly poor design By bokubob This part does basically go together as designed, but poorly. The flattened bits fit very loosely in the driver. While they stay in, they wobble a lot which means that you need to have to hold the bit and screw straight while you’re using it. Then, when you try to use a standard one sided bit, there is nothing to keep it from being pushed well into the body of the bit driver, making them useless. I think they tried to do too much. They made a holder for the flat leatherman bits that’s too loose to give you any confidence in it, because they made it to be able to take full sized bits, but those push into the body because it’s made for their two sided bits. Had they picked one or the other, this would be a much better product. That said, it will turn a screw. 4 of 5 people found the following review helpful. It’s a great additon. I wouldn’t recommend buying something like this for your Leatherman unless it specifies your individual tool as compatible. Does the job By Stoney The Leviton 101-WP is on the large side (not huge, but probably larger than the plug it is replacing, and larger than some replacement plugs available), but that also means you can get a good grip on it, if you need to unplug it. In part because of the large size and good design it is very easy to install an electrical cord, and your installation will be secure if you do it well—that is, it will not pull apart if someone pulls the cord instead of the plug, and it should be impossible to short-circuit. The plug is a single unit–there are no parts to disassemble or get lost. Some smaller replacement plugs may be more “attractive”, but generally the process of installing a cord in them is more difficult and less secure. With normal lamp cord: >> Separate about 1 1/2″ of cord >> Strip the last 3/4″ of plastic off of each cord—if you don’t have a stripping tool, then carefully cut through the plastic (only) with a razor or sharp knife, and pull off the plastic. DO NOT expose more than 3/4″ of bare wire. >> Twist the exposed strands of bare wire TIGHTLY, so that the many strands become a mini-cable. >> Wrap the stripped portion of the wires around the screw-posts in the direction the screws tighten (clockwise). This will be on-the-top-and-around on the right screw, and on-the-bottom-and-around on the left screw. You may need a small screwdriver etc. to “tuck in the end of the wire around the screw-posts. >> Tighten the screws good and tight. If you live in a household in which someone frequently rips plugs out of the wall by pulling the wire, then an generous dollop of household goop Amazing Goop All-Purpose Household Goop, 3.7-Ounce Tube #130012 before you screw the plug closed will provide an extra level of safety. The contacts in wall sockets, particularly in kitchens, bathrooms, and outdoors, can become stiff for various reasons. Silcon grease Permatex 22058 Dielectric Tune-up Grease – 3 oz. can restore “firm but smooth” operation (when pushing-in and pulling-out plugs), improve the the electrical contact, and protect the the contacts from further corrosion. To lubricate the sockets, slather silicon grease on the tines of a plug, and plug it in and out several times. If you are considering buying the plug to replace cat-chewed (dog-chewed, parrot-chewed, rabbit-chewed etc.) wiring, you should know that Household Goop can do an excellent job of repairing moderately damaged wires, much better than electrical tape. And Goop comes in a black version (Shoe Goo) which is invisible on black plastic cords. Don’t leave a slightly or moderately damaged cord in use “until you can get around to” replacing it. Fix it immediately with Goop, replace it later, if necessary. Note that this is a “polarized” plug. That means that one of the prongs is larger than the other, (as unfortunately is nearly every household plug these days). That means you’ll probably try to plug it in “the wrong way” half the time. The solution is to mark the “up” side of the plug (and of the plugs of other appliances which you frequent plug in and unplug). The easiest method I’ve found is to use a small patch of blue masking tape. The tape will stay in place virtually forever withould curling up or falling off; can easily be removed if you want without leaving a gummy residue or damaging the surface; and the color is bright enough to easily see. Useful for a number of chores in the kitchen By Joanna Daneman While I usually chop on a plastic cutting board with a big chef’s knife, the Cuisinart makes several tasks a lot easier. Chopping cooked or raw meat is one. If you are making hash from leftover corned beef, a short burst in this food processor is the easiest way to go. For mixing certain pastry doughs (pie or pate brisee) this is also a very good item to have, although you have to be careful to go slowly and not overprocess. The one thing the Cuisinart does is heat up the dough if you whirl it around too much, so you have to be careful. And if you put too heavy a bread dough in, using the plastic bread blade, you can heat the shaft up enough to jam the blade onto the central post and that’s a big nuisance. However, with these cautions, the Cuisinart is hands-down my favorite food processor and for shredding, slicing thinly or chopping, pretty much the best kitchen appliance for the job. 138 of 138 people found the following review helpful. great for bread and everything By Taylor Background: I bought this Cuisinart after reading all the positive reviews on this site. I bought it mainly for making bread because my mother raves about making bread with hers. I already had a small food processor for chopping, so I wasn’t too concerned about that. Opinion: I have made great bread with this (rustic style) with no problems, and it really is easy. I actually prefer this one to my smaller food processor for chopping, because the blade sits closer to the bottom of the bowl and so is better for chopping small quantities. So far I haven’t gotten the slicer to work as well as it does in the video (things fall sideways in the tube, etc), but I haven’t tried too hard. I only cook for two, and I do not think it is too big. In fact, it’s much better than the smaller one because I can slice several things into one bowl. Furthermore, I have sometimes found it to be too small (for making cole slaw, for example). I am here now to get some additional blades. I recommend getting an additional, thinner slicer blade if you want to make coule slaw. Drvenkar I bought the Cuisinart food processor last Christmas…as a gift to myself. My husband rolled his eyes when I told him I had bought this..he thought this was another gadget that would get used once and then disappear forever in a kitchen cabinet. I absolutely love this machine…I use it almost everyday from chopping vegetables to making cookie/cake dough. It is easy to use…easy to put together and best off all..easy to clean.
