 Isn’t Really a “High Lift” Blade

My fault for not researching this more before ordering. Most lawn mowers these days come with a blade designed for mulching….they are shaped to blow air upward at the edges (pulling grass taut for cutting) but then blowing downward in the middle to blow the clippings back down. They work only so-so for bagging. With thick grass the bag is only half full before the mower starts to choke. And forget about using the mower to vacuum up debris on the sidewalk. It’s more apt to blow it away from the housing as you approach instead of sucking it up underneath. There are indeed blades that are designed expressly for high suction like most mowers had years ago. On our last mower I immediately purchased such a blade and swapped for the compromise blade that was original equipment. When I got the Lawn Boy Insight 10686 I saw one listed in the literature but could not find it online nor with the local dealer who said (at the time) it looked like they never actually produced it. That was a number of years ago.
So when I found out that Lawn Boy made a what they called a Hi Lift Blade that fit my model I jumped the gun and ordered it. Alas, it’s the same compromise blade that comes with the mower. I will contact LB/Toro again and see if they ever did produce a blade that is lift only. Or maybe there is an aftermarket product that fits. I’m going to return this one.
Bottom line: If you are looking for a blade that has high suction for bagging, a true “high lift” blade, this is not it.
I will give them 3 stars because this is a fine product for what it is but IMHO it’s mislabeled.

Perfect replacement

This is the exact replacement blade for the lawnboy mower I own, no fuss with making sure it would fit. Worked exactly like the original.
